Designed for counselors and psychotherapists working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, this 3-hour experiential workshop introduces a collaborative, tri-phasic expressive arts practice to support somatic reclamation and holistic healing. Rather than analyzing or pathologizing the body's protective responses, participants will explore how to gently weave together somatic tracking, intuitive collage card creation, and creative poetry for use with individuals and groups in treatment. By externalizing internal felt-senses into tactile art, practitioners will gain a gentle, low-stakes framework that serves as an effective way for working with queer and trans folks who do not typically respond to traditional, top-down talk therapy approaches. This hands-on session provides immediate, honoring practices to enhance our work as clinicians by inviting the body's natural wisdom into the creative space. In daily therapeutic work, these adaptable tools can be applied in virtually any clinical setting to help people reclaim bodily autonomy, honor their lived experiences, and foster deep, self-compassionate resilience.
