Centering Trans People in Harm Reduction

Presented by Anchor Health, Apex Community Care, and Rainbow Recovery for Transgender Awareness Week 2021.

Join us for a panel discussion on centering trans and gender nonconforming people in harm reduction. We’ll talk about the the health care barriers faced by trans people and what trans-inclusive harm reduction spaces look like.

Our panelists include:

AJ Eckert, DO (they/them/theirs)

Connecticut’s first out nonbinary doctor and the Medical Director of Anchor Health’s Gender & Life-Affirming Medicine (GLAM) Program.

Alyssa Ramos (they/them/theirs)

Alyssa is a Harm Reduction and Prevention Manager at Apex Community Care. They have experience collaborating with over 30 agencies around the state, working in task forces to help fight stigma around the opioid epidemic, LGBTQ health, and HIV prevention.

M. Reim Ifrach, REAT, ATR-BC, ATCS, LPC, NCC, CLAT (they/them/theirs)

M is a trans/non-binary art therapist, fat activist and artist whose work focuses on body justice, intersectional social justice, and eating disorder treatment equity access. In addition to being the Director of Walden Behavioral Health’s Rainbow Road, they also co-own and operate Rainbow Recovery.
