Beetlejuice…beetlejuice…BEETLEJUICE!

For the last year Heather has loving fed into my Beetlejuice obsession with a lower leg sleeve. I want to start by making sure the world knows that Heather is a phenomenal human, friend and super talented artist. If you ever spend time talking with her about Queer Politics, Sex-Positive Sex Education or Body Image you will know how truly wonderful Heather is (and those are just a few things!).

So if you’ve read my many Beetlejuice blogs you know that I have a childhood obsession that turned into a cult following of all things Beetlejuice. From the twisted way the story talks about death and suicide to the kitschy and fun visual images that movie will always be soundly at the center of my little black heart. It was truly fun (and super painful this time around ugh!) “finishing” this piece. We added some swirly purple cloud like flowing colors and a bunch of little floating symbols from the cartoon and the movie. Little bats, beetles, those weird teeth monsters from the cartoon, lightning bolts and some shapes from the Deetz home. Each little image felt like the perfect sprinkles to my sundae. This time around I was in so much pain. It was odd how much I was in and as always Heather was empathetic and kind the whole way through. This was so my body that day which, if you knew me personally, you would know, this is just my body.

In the end my leg looks like a cool psychedelic 90’s wonderland of Beetlejuice and 90’s creepy goodness. It just makes me more excited for more strange and usual tattoos with Heather <3
