Still Here

Tattoo by Dora of Earthship Studios DECEMBER 31, 2020

This is my last tattoo of 2020 and I could not imagine a better person to end the 2020 tattoo season with than Dora. We started this tattoo earlier and this was our final session to color it in and really bring it to life.

There is something about tattooing a culturally taboo part of the body. My stomach has the been the talk of family, some not so great (and no longer in my life) friends and the focus of many doctors. Wether it was surgery, medical issues, the constant onslaught of weight-loss nonsense my body and my stomach in particular has never gotten a break. So I set a boundary and decided I would no longer allow that diet culture rhetoric as part of my life or take up any space. So instead my body is a canvas, a garden, a magical vessel tethering my soul, my inner workings, my own otherworldly essence to this planet.

So as 2020 comes to a close thank you Dora, Heather, Earthship and all the AMAZING female identifying and gender non-conforming artists that made surviving 2020 possible. You each are talented, magical humans who have contributed to me feeling more empowered to be me and in my body.

We’re Still Here.
